Lady Gaga Eyeing Palatial Scottish Estate

Pop megastar Lady Gaga has set her sights on a far more far-flung place to call home. A tipster has alerted The Real Estalker that Gaga has signed contracts to buy Scotland's famed Yester House, located some 20 miles from Edinburgh. While there has been no record of any official sale yet, here's the scoop: the 18th-century estate was most recently listed for some $12.9M (for 285 of 600 acres) and features 34,585 square feet of interior space, 60-plus rooms, 35-plus fireplaces, three kitchens, a 1,300-square-foot ballroom, and a gun room. Yester House was described in the December 2008 issue of Architectural Digest as such: "One of the charms of Yester is the variety of decoration in the rooms, achieved without sacrificing the harmony of the whole." Aggrandizement Gaga would be proud of. From Curbed International.

A Non-Exhaustive List of Crazy Celebrity-Estate Names

10_Nov_Celeb-Estate-names.jpg

Thanks to Curbed for this one. Celebrities! They're just like us, except they're better looking, richer, and can get away with bestowing weird, perhaps inappropriate, names unto their pets and children. Along that vein, a great many of them tend to dwell in mansions known not by their normal, numbered, plebeian street addresses but rather by grandiose titles full of grandness, grandeur, and the occasional foreign word that recalls strip-mall Italian restaurants. Many of them were named by their original owners, but no matter—the celebrity presence roaming their hallowed hallways lives on. A heartfelt thanks to our friends at The Real Estalker for allowing us to obsessively browse their archives to dig up a by-no-means-complete list of the absurdly named estates where famous people live (or have lived in years past). The full roster, with its myriad ivory towers, follows the jump.

Fancy living near award-winning actress Helen Mirren? Now’s your chance!

Everything in the Wapping Garden is lovely for Helen. If you fancy living near award-winning actress Helen Mirren, now’s your chance. Savills is selling a Grade II-listed basement flat in Wapping Pierhead that is almost identical to one owned by Mirren and her husband, American film director Taylor Hackford. The price? £1.59 million.

“I’m in the privileged position of having a shared garden in Wapping," the Prime Suspect and The Queen star recently enthused. "I’m lucky that my fellow gardeners are very dedicated and creative."

This row of Georgian houses near the Thames is considered one of the finest in Docklands. It’s very different from the Hackfords’ main base in east Los Angeles, which Mirren describes as "not particularly rough, even though we do have drive-by shootings".

A Brief History of Charlie Sheen's Homes and Sheenanigans

sheen-xmas.jpg

Charlie Sheen went from Platoon and Wall Street to Scary Movie 4 before becoming the highest-paid man on television. His roller coaster of professional success hasn't been mirrored in his personal life, unless that coaster is the new Endless Downward Spiral of Drug Addiction and Infidelity ride at Six Flags, of course. As we all know, he stepped on that amusement ride again this month, with a classic Sheen coke-fueled flip out at NYC's Plaza Hotel, complete with porn star escort! Happy to have the old, riotous Charlie back, we decided to round up some of the houses that witnessed his earlier downfalls. What's that they say about the story of one's life being written in the walls of one's home? Exactly.

Donald Trump Lists California Home

When Housing Watch broke the news that Donald Trump has listed his home in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, I knew we had to go check it out. Trump, who has a habit of creating drama where ever he goes, had years of "tumultuous relations" with the locals. Trump, a man accustomed to always getting his own way, ran up against the community rules over a variety of issues. He even sued the town for $100 million because they wouldn't let him have his own way.

The home he is selling is his personal residence where he stayed while in Los Angeles and is located at the 18-hole Trump National Golf Course and has both golf course and ocean views The 11,000-square-foot five-bedroom luxurious yet bland Mediterranean has marble floors is built in a U-shaped design around a courtyard with an infinity pool facing the ocean. The gourmet kitchen has Miele appliances, Wolf range, a Sub Zero refrigerator and a copper hood over the range. The master suite offers a walk-in closet, large bathroom, private patio and fire pit. The home has several fireplaces including one in the library. The game room has a full sized bar that matches the one at Trump National Golf Course. A glass wine room showcases your collection. It's posh but practically understated considered Trump's usual taste for gilded, over-the-top decor.

Housing Watch reports that Trump paid $27 million in the late 1990s for the 300-acre land site and constructed the golf course and adjacent properties. A pretty sharp deal. Homes on the course sell for over $5 million. Trump's personal home is listed for $12 million with Linda D'Ambrosi and Sandra Callen of Keller Williams, Rancho Palos Verdes. The property website is here.
